Banned Nigeria Athletes Stages a Protest in Japan

After 10 out of 23 athletes were banned from the Ongoing Olympic Games, Nigeria athletes staged a protest in Tokyo.

The peaceful protest carried a placard that was inscribed “why should we suffer for someone else’s negligence” “We do not just alternate but potential medalists” “All we wanted to do was just compete”.

They expressed frustration at seeing the long-awaited Tokyo Olympic Games where they have always wanted to showcase talent and meet expectations shattered because of negligence from the ministry of sports and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN.

Meanwhile, Blessing Okagbare and Nzubechi Grace have made it to the semi-finals of the Women’s 100m race and this should be the first time since 2012 Nigeria will be having two of her athletes in the semi-finals of the 100m Women race contesting.
