Due to non-compliance with the Out of Competition Testing (OCT) requirement, 10 Nigeria Track and Field athlete has been scraped off from the Olympics.

This is a huge setback to Team Nigeria at the ongoing Olympic Games coupled with the hope of a medal diminishing by the day.

Athletics integrity unit (AIU) in a statement said that only those that meet the three no-notices out-of-competition tests will be eligible to represent their national team at the World Athletics Championships or the Olympic Games.

Nigeria being the most affected country has only 11 Nigeria athletes left on the entry list with popular names like Brume Ese, Divine Oduduru, Blessing Okagbare.

Over the ruled out Nigeria athletes, a protest was done in the streets of Tokyo, and the athletes blaming it on the negligence of their country’s sports administrator.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) accepted the lapses were from them won’t still be enough to have the disqualified back.

For clarity's sake, none of the athletes involved were ruled out of the competition because of doping violations but rather because of the failure to test them enough times before the game by the countries governing body.
